Care Homes vs Home Care
By: Stuart Bennett
There are just more than 21,500 care homes in the UK only in the present day with more citizens being cared for in a full time care home or nursing home facility in contrast to in their own homes through domiciliary care. New Labour has made it quite apperent it intends to vary the way we in Britain are being cared for by improving the service and finally the care citizens get in their own homes, with ever growing expenses to exist in in a full time care home vs the lesser £12 per hour care at home fee the diversity in terms of finance is clear. However, cost is only one attribute and in the end not the most important. For this we must ask the query "if your dear old mum was left at home without help all day unable to care for herself, alone and ultimately a danger to herself" would you feel comfortable leaving her there? Not merely this but research shows that regular communication among others in a energetic environment frequently stimulates and prolonges a persons life a great deal more than being alone and generally unsafe at home. Is this New Labours way of cutting corners economically, or do they actually sense it is best for elderly people who are not capable to care for themselves once a carer has visited? Ultimately, we must offer each side a fair trial. If someone is able bodied enough to mind for themselves in conditions of the general tasks per day but now require a little care a few times a week then home care is for them, on the other hand we must assess health and safety before finances are even considered, finance should not be a decision when a persons own protection is at risk, new labour must to step in and bring their cheque book.
