Can an Aikido Video Courses really work?
By: Todd A. Smith
There are many ways to involve oneself in karate training. One of the more well known is to go a Dojo(school) near one's home to train. I'm a college student, so money is an issue, plus if my class schedule changes it would ruin my training schedule. Enter the the computer, we now have the option to learn remotely on so many subjects. We could also learn physical skills online or with video courses if they have been made for us to use. Up to this point there has been no complete, well thought out Karate Video Course with martial arts videos that one can view and follow for the purpose of learning a martial art. It would be great to go to a reputable school near me. But I don't have the extra money, or the time. And there aren't any schools near my home that I like. I looked for online aikido videos that I could learn from, and I found many entertaining videos that we all go to when we want to see a video. The issue was that all the aikido videos I saw were not created to be a course that a layperson could follow. They looked like they were made for a group of students already training with the Dojo in the video. Also there were so many videos with titles like "Aikido vs Judo", or Aikido vs Karate", none of which were what I was looking for. I wanted to learn, which was much more that those other entertainment style videos could do for me. So I started looking around for something I could keep on my computer that could be a course in some martial art that I could go along with the lessons when I had the time to do so. I found this course (Aikido Video Course) that looked pretty cool. This teacher filmed his school's rank requirements from the beginning level, all the way to the brown belt level in his curriculum
