Oil Hydraulics On Board Ship

By: anneliseime

The energy source necessary to activate automatisms can be electric, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic...

These energy sources are used depending on the characteristics needed by the users.

The electric system is used when modest forces are needed, while for medium forces pneumatic systems are used and hydraulic in case of strong forces.

The electric system uses low or normal tension electric energy . The electronic system uses electric energy as well but it amplifies the small tension variations through electronic amplifiers.

The main advantages of an oil-hydraulic control, besides the high values of forces, moments and speed that can be used by the servo-motor, are the response quickness due to fact that the oil can't be pressed, the low maintenance thanks to auto lubrification and the remote transmission of relevant strengths.

For these reasons, oil hydraulics has had an increasing importance on board, where it's used for the remote control not only of alternative or revolving servo-motors, but also to activate big motors endowed of revolving motion.

Moreover oil hydraulic finds its use in automated regulation of processes and in servo-mechanisms.
